Anxiety

The mind keeps looking for danger even when there is none.

Anxiety is not a weakness of character but a brain that has learned to stay on alert. The regions that assess danger remain active even when there is nothing to assess, and the body keeps receiving the signal to get ready: the heart beats harder, breathing shortens, the mind looks for what could go wrong. The work here is on the rhythm that produces the thoughts, not on the thoughts that come out of it.

Does this sound like you?

  • Worry that will not stop, even when you know it is out of proportion
  • Tension in the body, short breath, a racing heart for no reason
  • You fall asleep with difficulty because your mind does not stop in the evening
  • You avoid places, situations or conversations so the anxiety does not start
  • The day exhausts you more than it should, though nothing unusual happened
What is usually done

The usual work is psychotherapy (most often cognitive behavioural) and, where needed, anxiolytic or antidepressant medication. Both help and both remain good options.

What we do differently

The difference is where it acts. Therapy works with thoughts and behaviour, medication with chemistry. Brain training works with the brain's electrical rhythm: it shows the brain, in real time, when it enters the alarm state and lets it learn on its own how to come out of it. That is why it usually sits alongside therapy and medication, not in their place.

How does it compare with brain training?

Have you already had therapy or medication, and the symptoms persist? Brain training acts directly on the imbalances in the brain. Beyond reducing the effects, this method trains the brain's own mechanisms for a real change.

What brain training does in anxiety

  • Trains the cortical rhythms that sustain the alert state, so the brain can come down from it on its own
  • Works on heart-brain coherence, measured through heart rate variability, for the part of anxiety that is felt in the body rather than the head
  • Neurofeedback itself sends no current into the brain; where the map calls for it, auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS) can be added. The reported side effects are rare and short-lived: mild tiredness, a heavy head after a session
  • The protocol follows your own brain map, not a general pattern of anxiety

The benefits you will notice quickly

  • Deeper, more restful sleep, without frequent waking
  • Fewer anxiety states and less inner agitation
  • A clearer mind and greater capacity to concentrate
  • More balanced emotional reactions in the face of stress
  • A general state of calm. The body finally begins to settle
  • Technology validated by over 1,250 clinical studies

What this rests on

Over six decades of research

Neurofeedback is one of the non-drug methods with the longest research history. On anxiety disorders the results are encouraging, but the studies are still few and of uneven quality, and the existing reviews call for better controlled trials. We say so plainly.

The institute's clinical experience

The team has documented cases of patients with anxiety in a book of its own on Neurofeedback Plus. These are clinical observations, not controlled trials, and we present them as such.

How it goes

From the brain scan to personalised brain training.

  1. We identify the exact cause

It all starts with an advanced BrainMap (qEEG) assessment, completely non-invasive and painless. This investigation creates a detailed map of your brain activity and shows us which imbalances trigger the anxiety states.

  2. You receive a personalised plan

Based on the results, we build a Brain Training treatment protocol adapted 100% to your own brain pattern. The therapy is non-invasive, with no electrical stimuli, no pain and no side effects.

  3. The brain regulation sessions begin

You take part in guided brain training sessions in which your nervous system is retrained to work in balance. As brain activity settles, the anxiety symptoms begin to fade.

Common questions

Do I have to stop my medication?

No, and medication is never stopped without the agreement of the doctor who prescribed it. Brain training runs alongside treatment, and if things improve, any adjustment is still the doctor's decision.

How long before I feel something?

It depends on the person and on how long the state has lasted. Some feel a difference in sleep or in background tension after a few sessions; for a change that holds, the work usually takes a few months.

Is it painful or tiring?

No, the neurofeedback electrodes only read the brain's activity and send nothing into the body. If auricular vagus nerve stimulation is added, it feels like a light tingle, at an intensity set together with you. Most people describe the sessions as restful.
