Neurofeedback

BrainBit

The brain sees its own activity and corrects itself.

The technology that optimises brain activity, in its home version. A headband with dry electrodes reading electrical activity from 4 points: O1 and O2 at the back, T3 and T4 at the sides. The brain feels nothing; the band only listens. Your waves are turned into sound or image on the spot: when you work well the feedback goes on, when you drift it stops. The brain finds the way itself, without being told.

Band

Why it helps

  • Dry electrodes: no gel, no washing your hair after. On in seconds.
  • 250 readings per second over a wide band, enough for serious training, not just a rough measurement.
  • It has an official development kit, so the training runs inside the platform, not in a stranger's app.
  • You see each electrode's contact before you start, so you don't train on a bad signal.
  • About 12 hours per charge, enough for 2 weeks of sessions.

How you train at home

  1. Put the band on your forehead and adjust it until it sits on the 4 points.
  2. Check the contact of the 4 electrodes in the app; all should be green.
  3. Pick the protocol your specialist set after the BrainMap assessment.
  4. Sessions of 20-30 minutes, 2 or 3 times a week. The feedback follows your waves in real time.

The device the institute uses

The device, in detail

A fabric band with four dry electrodes. It listens to the brain's electrical activity and turns it, on the spot, into sound or image.

The ordinary band is the one we use too. The four points it reads are exactly the ones our protocols run on, so what you do at home and what we do in the clinic are the same thing.

It does nothing to you, it only listens

It sends nothing into the brain. It reads the electrical signal already there and shows it to you. Whatever changes, changes because you see your own activity and the brain adjusts itself to it.

Four points, no gel

It reads O1 and O2 at the back, T3 and T4 at the sides, with dry electrodes. On in seconds, and your hair isn't a mess afterwards. Which is why this can be done at home, not only in the clinic.

You see the contact before you start

The app shows whether each electrode sits properly. All four green means you're training on a good signal; without that check you could work half an hour for nothing and never suspect it.

The battery lasts two weeks of sessions

Around twelve hours of use, roughly twenty sessions. The battery comes out and can be replaced, so the device doesn't die with it.

Why it's worth owning

Neurofeedback isn't three sessions. It's dozens, a few days apart, because the brain learns by repetition, like everything else. With the band at home, you keep going on your own between sessions, and the training no longer stops between visits.

The band on its own is a signal on a screen. Which protocol suits you, which waves you work on and for how long: that comes from the BrainMap Investigation and gets adjusted in the guided sessions, where the therapist watches alongside you.

What a guided session is

Fifty minutes with an institute therapist, in the platform's video room, with the band on your head.

What happens in the session

  • You check the contact of all four electrodes together, before anything starts
  • The therapist starts the protocol that suits you and watches what the brain does while you work
  • You leave with the protocol to practise at home and with what we're tracking until next time

What you need

  • A BrainBit band, charged
  • A stable internet connection and somewhere you can sit undisturbed
  • Clean, dry hair: styling products spoil the signal

Which of the two

The same band, in two versions. They differ in how many points they read, and only in that.

Our recommendation

BrainBit Headband

4 channels: O1, O2, T3, T4

This is the one you need

The four points we work on. Dry electrodes, a replaceable battery, on in seconds. For everything we do together, this is the band. The rest is extra.

Manufacturer's price$499See it at BrainBit

Headband Pro

8 channels: adds Fp1, Fp2, T5, T6

If you want wider coverage

It adds frontal and temporal points on top of the usual four, with electrodes replaceable one by one. Worth it if you also work outside our protocols, or if you do research. For sessions with us it adds nothing.

How we go from here

Tell us where you are, so we know what to show you.

Before you start

It is a training device, not a diagnostic one: it does not replace the clinic's qEEG scan. The protocol comes from the specialist.

Where it starts

Everything starts from the BrainMap assessment, a qEEG scan of over 80,000 points and 47 brain areas. The protocol comes out of it: what is trained, with what, and in what order. The home devices carry that protocol on between sessions; they do not replace it.

The device alone is not enough

Which protocol suits you, what is trained and for how long, is decided with a specialist. The device carries on what was decided there; without that, it is a graph on a screen.

Book an online session

These devices do not replace medical advice and are not a treatment on their own. The protocol is set by the specialist, after the BrainMap assessment.
